A dance monologue exploring millennials, flamenco culture and other concerns.
POP is a millennial portrait – a dance monologue weaving through diverse tales of love and passion that ultimately lead to self-destruction. A woman, striving to attain everything and ending up with nothing, invites us to this intimate performance. With humour, she addresses survival, fragility, obsessions, ego, wannabes, frustration and the inevitability of death.
Did you know that flamingos stand on one leg to conserve energy? Didn’t you know that? Neither did I. But now that I do, life’s looking pretty brilliant.
This piece is the product of the inaugural collaboration between millennials Laura Alcala Freudenthal and Irene Vicente Salas.
Laura Alcala Freudenthal, a dancer, choreographer, teacher and dance researcher, is also a movement director. As an independent artist, she manages various projects, and has graced the stage with her dance in companies such as Pere Faura, Vero Cendoya, Àngels Margarit and Roberto Olivan. Beyond creating her own performances, she has co-directed the LaSúbita company.
Irene Vicente Salas, a director and playwright, is the creative force behind the Corpus project, a venture in performing arts within museums, featuring Laura Alcala Freudenthal as a performer.
