A ceremonial dance with echoes of ancient traditions.
Cicatrius is a collective celebration of healed wounds.
Much like the scientific process of bodily healing involves a seamless collaboration between the body’s own systems, the performers of this piece also unite to convey the narrative of a wound.
Drawing inspiration from the mamuthones of traditional Sardinian dances and the moixiganga, the artists behind Cicatrius will engage in their unique ritual of collective celebration through dance.
Vero Cendoya is a multifaceted artist, working as a performer, teacher, painter, illustrator and choreographer. She has worked as an assistant director, movement advisor and performer for various companies. In 2008, she set up her own dance-theatre company, Cia Vero Cendoya, characterised by its collaborative approach with artists from diverse disciplines. In productions like Fils (2013), she merges dance with poetry, while Sinfonía de cuarto de baño (2012) integrates dance and experimental music. In Antagònics (2011), she intertwines dance with the theme of transformation, and in La Partida (2015), she combines football and dance. Recent premieres include Bogumer, awarded Best Physical Theatre at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and Parlem-ne, acknowledged as the Best Dance Show at the Teatre Barcelona Awards. Her performances have graced theatres and festivals across Spain, Italy, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Belgium, England, China and Taiwan.
