COVE

A fusion of dance, craftsmanship and the traditional Catalan rural house.

Cove is a dance performance exploring the making of a traditional Catalan basket, characterised by its pointed bottom and spiral edge. It serves as a bold and almost exotic endeavour aimed at challenging the pace and rhythm of modern society, while also acting as a means of reclaiming traditional values and knowledge as agents for social change.
This stage production is currently in development, blending movement and craftsmanship with singing, sound art and digital visual art. Its aim is to accentuate the movements of both the hands and body of a basket weaver, as well as the materials and tools they employ. A captivating, daring and transcendent piece offering a fresh perspective on contemporary dance.

Última vèrtebra, established in 2019 by artists Anna Garreta and Quim Vilagran, serves as a platform dedicated to research, creation and the promotion of art and culture. At the core of their activities lie movement and the human body. Última vèrtebra bridges artistic concepts with knowledge, landscape and stagecraft through projects that weave together these elements, fostering processes aimed at activation, awareness and transformation. Operating as a multidisciplinary artistic label, they conceive, design and give impetus to a wide array of projects, ranging from stage installations, performances and exhibitions to community cultural development and popular culture initiatives, artistic and documentary research endeavours and a dance festival (15m2 International Festival of Itinerant Microdance).
