L’Envers d’ici is a performance blending dance, text and music set in abandoned or transforming spaces – places that have lived in the past and still bear traces of their history within their walls.

The piece takes the audience on a poetic journey through forgotten urban landscapes – sealed off, awaiting demolition, or left to decay. It breathes new life into these spaces, making their walls speak again, revealing hidden stories, and conjuring an altered – or perhaps imagined – reality that everyday life often conceals.
With L’Envers d’ici, Ex Nihilo invites us to explore and rediscover these neglected spaces with fresh eyes. Moving at our own pace, alone or with others, we are simply asked to let go – to follow our gaze, give in to desire and savour this unique moment and artistic experience.
From 9 pm onwards, you are invited to follow this route through the city’s historic centre, either alone or with others, at your own pace. The journey will conclude with a shared experience around a surprising installation at Plaça Campdenmàs.

Alternatively, you can head straight to Plaça Campdenmàs around 10.15 pm, even if you haven’t followed the route.

The company Ex Nihilo was founded in 1994 with the intention of taking dance out of the rehearsal studio and the stage: to “push down the walls” to meet the public, to make the public space a privileged place for research and creation, to link the public space and the places of art by putting back into play and renewing the forms for the stage and the singular spaces. Working outdoors means exploring the space through the bodies, an exploration that is renewed with each space, and it is also the experience of a relationship with the “viewer”, a passer-by or inhabitant, out of frame, without being called. This is where our movement and its writing are born. Since 2017, the company has been based at the Cité des arts de la rue in Marseille and continues to create works in the region in a permanent link with its international partners, while hosting other artists and companies.
