A calm, contemplative proposal. Step by step, brick by brick, Rebecca Lillich/Krüger and Ahmad Mallah wall themselves in, until they are trapped and separated.

The Price of Bricks is a collaborative project between Ahmad Mallah and Rebecca Lillich // Krüger, exploring the physical and emotional cost of rebuilding after destruction.
The duo sit and build a wall through their bodies, both an act of agency and caging as they become part of what holds them. The wall will be both a barrier and a canvas—symbolizing borders, restrictions, and the structures we build to protect ourselves, yet also a site for resilience and transformation.

Ahmad Mallah and Rebecca Lillich/Krüger an artist duo whose collaborative practice delves into identity, belonging, and transformation themes.
Rebecca Lillich/Krüger, an Amsterdam-based multimedia artist with focus of Performance art from the U.S. Her work is invested in world-making and transformation through theatricality and the body, with an emphasis on text work, high physicality and aesthetic surrealism.
Ahmad Mallah brings his experiences as a Palestinian artist born in Syria, navigating life as stateless before arriving in the Netherlands. Ahmad’s interdisciplinary practice dissects identity, war, and the paradox of belonging. His work—spanning painting, performance, film and installation—traces the tension between safety and freedom, a theme echoing his journey from Damascus to Amsterdam.
