S’Albufera is a landscape and heritage that permeates the childhood and memories of the performers of this dance piece. It is a landscape that is constructed, imagined, remembered and lived – and now, also danced.
Nature,
a sustainable ecosystem. We are part of nature,
and nature is part of us.
A landscape, a specific physical state, a precise set of sensations. This Albufera is not in Alcúdia, nor in Valencia, nor in Menorca, but exists in our sensory imagination. It is our Albufera. A place of nature where we walk, live and coexist. We are nature and we dance coexistence. Through a civilised aesthetic, a beautiful perspective strives to capture and depict this landscape. We are the Albufera itself: mud, the foot that treads, the animal, the leaf, the person, the eyes. We recognise it and respect it.
We remember it, imagine it, invent it and dance it.
We have created a landscape and are zooming in on it.
Maya Triay (Palma) is a dancer and creator, while Mariona Jaume Camps (Sineu) is a dancer and cultural manager. As creators and performers, they have participated in various contemporary arts projects. They currently live in Mallorca and have been working together since 2022, thanks to the Art Jove Programme in the Balearic Islands. This initiative led them to create their first joint piece, Trenta set i mig, marking the beginning of their partnership. In 2023, their project S’Albufera was born, premiering at Palma Dansa as a proposal for unconventional spaces. In 2024, S’Albufera has been featured at festivals in Catalonia and Mallorca, including La Mercè, FiraB!, Noche de Patrimonio and Festival Z, among others.
