Shalott is a contemporary dance duo that deals with the inevitable. With time, human relationships, love, memories... Although they are inevitable, the acceptance of their finite nature is what lends them meaning and value. What is and what is not written? How many blank sheets are left to write? Through contemporary dance and acrobatics, Shalott approaches these concepts from seemingly opposing points, such as innocence and fear. A piece accessible to all audiences, to make children laugh and, at the same time, to stir feelings or sensations in the adult audience.
The Shalott Company is made up of Vlad Ion and Guillem Batlle, contemporary dancers. Both have completed Professional Dance Training at the Varium Espai de Moviment y Creació and the FRE3 BODIES training directed by Nadine Gerspacher and Nicolas Ricchini. Their first creation was Cosas serias... (2021), a dance duo based on humor and the absurd. They employ humour as a tool to bring contemporary dance closer to a mixed crowd and make it more accessible. Shalott, their most recent piece, focuses on creating performance-related images and an atmosphere that allows abstract concepts to be tackled from different standpoints.
