Ur is an allegory for sustainable economics. A creative journey inspired by the stories of a family living on the banks of the Urumea River. Their confessions move us, delight us, enrage us and, above all, make us think.
Building oneself by building one’s own house. Our house, our second body.
Assembly line: covering the river, excavating the mountain, cutting off the summit... Railway, trucks, incinerator, airport... The house built has been demolished. A painful awakening: learning the body, discovering pain... Building oneself by rebuilding one’s own house.
Since 2011, Haatik, a Gipuzkoa-based dance company, has not only been working on its own creations, it has also collaborated with many different creators on various artistic proposals. The Basque language and culture are at the heart of the company’s personality. The company became known with Errimak Oinetan (2012), a proposal combining dance and bertsolaritza (improvised verse singing in Basque). In 2014, they began to produce street performances. Since then they have participated in numerous national festivals (Kalealdía, Kaldearte, Kaleka, NunOff Barcelona and Tac Valladolid) and international festivals (Festival Dos Canais de Aveiro, Malices et Merveilles, Musicalarue, Fest’Arts and Sarabandes).
