Castell Sespasa, also known as Castell de s’Espasa, is located in the municipality of Montagut i Oix (Garrotxa) and has been designated a Cultural Asset of National Interest. The remains of its walls stand atop towering vertical rocks above the Gorja d’en Roca ravine, near the village of Sadernes. It is thought that the site was never a true fortress but rather a small fortified outpost, where a few men were stationed to keep watch over the route towards Sant Aniol and Bassegoda, and from there to France.
